Racism@Uni Survey - your voice matters

13 Aug 2025

This week, staff and students across Australia will receive an invitation to participate in the Racism@Uni Survey, an independent and confidential study led by the Australian Human Rights Commission and conducted by researchers from the Centre for Social Policy Research (POLIS).

This landmark study seeks to examine the prevalence, nature and impact of racism in universities. It includes questions about interpersonal, bystander, institutional, and structural racism, and takes approximately 15 minutes to complete.

The survey is independent and anonymous, ensuring your responses are confidential.

The Australian Human Rights Commission will report on the findings and make recommendations to the Australian Government and universities.

Participation

Participation is entirely voluntary and open to all staff and students (aged 18 and over) at participating Australian universities.

As ANU has agreed to participate, you will receive an invitation email containing a unique link to complete the survey.

Participants will also have the chance to win a $50 gift card. There are fifty gift cards available.

When will you get your notification?

You will receive an email to your student or staff inbox from the email address: AHRC.RacismUniSurvey@anu.edu.au containing a unique survey link on Thursday 14 August.

You will also receive three reminder emails over the next few weeks, regardless of whether you have completed the survey.
