Stephen Gageler AC is the Chief Justice of the High Court of Australia, the nation’s highest judicial office. 

He was appointed to the High Court in 2012 and has served as Chief Justice since 2023, following a distinguished career in public law and constitutional practice. Prior to his judicial appointment, he served as Solicitor-General of the Commonwealth, where he was the principal legal adviser to the Australian Government. 

Widely recognised for his expertise in constitutional law and administrative law, he has played a significant role in shaping Australia’s legal and judicial landscape.
